Your customers can use their gift cards to make purchases from your store both online and in person.

You can also limit redemption to online only. Learn more about in store redemption only.

There are two ways customer can redeem the code:

  1. With unique code: when making a purchase in your store, a customer can redeem the value of a gift card by entering its unique code at checkout. This code isn't case sensitive. A gift card holds a balance, which can be spent over more than one order. Gift card balances are applied to the total value of an order, which can include taxes and shipping. In addition, customer is given a choice of how much of a balance of gift card they want to spend. You can view and manage the status of each gift card in your admin account.
  2. With gift card account balance: when customer purchased a gift card and created user account, the gift account was created for your customer. That account like a debit card, it can be applied at the checkout.

When a customer redeems a gift card, the checkout displays one of the following options:

  • If the balance available on the gift card is greater than or equal to the order total, then the customer can click Complete order.
  • If the balance available on the gift card is less than the order total, then the customer is prompted to choose a second payment method for the balance before placing the order.

Note: If a customer wants to buy a gift card for someone else, then they need to forward the gift card email to the recipient.
