You can use transfers to record, track, and receive incoming purchase orders and inventory from suppliers. Transfers can help you to manage your purchase orders and inventory in several ways:
- You can record incoming inventory after you’ve submitted and confirmed your purchase order (PO) with your supplier.
- You can indicate whether you’ve received full or partial inventory, which allows you to process inventory at your own pace.
- Your product inventory is updated automatically after you receive the items from your supplier.
- You can see the number of incoming items and their expected arrival date right in the product’s details.
Create a transfer from a supplier
After you’ve submitted a purchase order to your supplier and received a confirmation, you can create a transfer to record the incoming inventory.
You can follow the same steps as you do when you create a transfer between locations.
Receive inventory from a supplier
When your inventory arrives, you can use a transfer to make sure that you receive everything you are expecting. When you confirm that you’ve received an item on your transfer, update the numbers on the transfer, just like you would when receive inventory between locations.
Undo a transfer from a supplier
If you create a transfer or receive items by mistake, then you'll need to either delete the transfer:
- If you haven't received the inventory yet, then you can open the Inventory History and delete the transfer.
- If you already recorded the inventory as received, then you need to delete the transfer in both locations.
